An exciting boulder start over a hole in the boulders gains the crack proper where face climbing, liebacking and even some jamming will keep you moving upwards on this testy little pitch.

Once at the ledge finish up a short easy crack or, better yet, cut slightly left and finish up the two bolts of

H & R Block

(5.6) and belay from the bolts atop that route.

The climbing is fun and challenging, but the amount of real climbing to approach ratio makes this much less appealing than the nearby Tax Man; starting at ground level and climbing up through the hole increases the length and makes it more interesting.

The easiest descent is to head up and over the back and then circle back left to reach the bolted anchors atop

From Tax Man scramble up the wall to belay on a huge chockstone directly under the crack.  I found the climbing to be better than it looked from below.  About 30' up a spicy traverse to the right will get your attention.  I gave the climb two stars as we combined it with H&R Block for a nice 100' pitch.

(5.10a). One star out of five, maybe two if linked with one of the " Mr. Bunny" routes.

Climb a crack in the Tax Free dihedral to the right arete, pass two bolts with balancy crux moves above the second bolt, follow Tax Free's nice easy finger crack above.

Start far to the right of Taxman bellow the obvious crack. Climb up ten feet then traversing left to a hands crack which leads to a staircase and the base of the final offwidth sized crack.

On the left edge of the IRS wall is an almost vertical arete with 7 bolts. This is Alf's Arete. Technical edging and very thin holds characterise this face climb. The first bolt is a little high, and you definitely don't want to blow it before clipping it. The finish, though quite slabby, is run out and forces you to keep your concentration high.

Some 5.10- face climbing past a bolt (crux) on crunchy edges leads up and right to a crack. This crack is low angle and uninteresting, so place a piece or two and then bust out left into the steeper thin crack that splits the center of the buttress. Edges and the occasional fingerlock will see you through until the crack opens up higher. Belay from a 2 bolt anchor shared with Alf's Arete .11a.

Definitely one of the most fun and exciting 5.10 pitches in the park. After a cruxy face start, the steep and excellent crack provides solid gear all the way up and a pump that makes reaching the bolted anchor a good challenge. With its excellent pro and steepness, this route makes a good first 5.10 lead.

In the large dihedral left - east of Tax Man, climb and stem the easy thin corner crack with a rotten hand crack on the right wall of the dihedral to the roof (ok pro in hand crack). Get good pro at the start of the roof then progressively harder under-clinging with thin edges for feet end at a desperate blind reach around the roof for a funky hand jam (crux). Mantle and finish the nice easy finger crack above.

Descend via Tax Man's single rope rappel anchors or scramble off west towards Copenhagen Wall.

Climb up the crack behind the flake across patina flakes to another crack.

To find Bloody Tax Break, approach IRS wall as for Taxman.  Bloody Tax Break ascends the thin fingers-to-tips crack about 3-4 meters to the right hand side of Taxman, near or on the right hand arete of that same wall.  The precise way to approach is difficult, but more or less consists of walking towards IRS wall, approaching it's lower left hand side, then clambering up and over boulders towards it's upper right hand side until you encounter these two stunning fingercracks in a flat wall capped by a roof just below the top. Climb up to the crack at the right hand side.  Near the ground, you can step to the right and climb easy terrain with the crack or step left and make an eliminate problem out of the crack, climbing a better line on better rock. As the climb continues, a bulge on the right side of the arete forces those on the right into the harder climbing for the crux anyway. There are two cruxes on this route, of a similar nature to that of Taxman, but perhaps a little harder; one 1/2 way up, and one switching cracks to the right at the small roof as the original line disappears. This climb would get more stars if the rock were more solid.

Solo 40ft up to ledge with a bolt. Make crux move off ledge to left-facing flake. Surmount flake and continue up easy, heavily featured arete to steep headwall arete. Rap off from the

Tax Man

anchors.

Short but strenuous, this dihedral to roof features a wide hand/fist crack in the back with strenuous movement as you work to keep the weight off your arms. A good selection of wide gear and a go-for-it attitude help on this route. Note: this route favors those with larger hands/fists.

Climb Tax Man to just below the final bit and traverse left 15 feet along a horizontal crack to finish the fun finger crack bit of Tax Free.  This is a fun alternative finish and just about as hard as the final bit of Tax Man.  Take care with the loose lip along the traverse.

A short but pleasant thin crack that's hidden from view and actually facing the IRS Wall.
